Fatal Walmart Shooting – The Importance of response
Tragedy in Virginia Walmart
Six unsuspecting people were killed in a Walmart Supercenter shooting in Chesapeake, Virginia on November 22, 2022. Just a couple days prior, in Colorado Springs a gunman opened fire in a nightclub killing five people and injuring nineteen others. A week before that, a student allegedly opened fire at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Tragedies like these, though sometimes unavoidable, can be responded to in life saving amounts of time in hopes of minimizing the damage. With every mass shooting, we are seeing a growing need for fast and functional response time to law enforcement. The solutions that Response Technologies provides are equipped with the capability to facilitate the fastest alert, in less than two seconds.
During tragedies such as these, the two main goals of a notification system must be accomplished simultaneously and as quickly as possible:
Inform the good guys – We send our alerts directly to the radio of law enforcement. This is their means of communication, so we meet them at that point.
Inform the other people who are involved in the situation. Communication needs to be sent to other reactors who are stuck in the situation. Once informed, they will be able to carry out the predetermined protocol put in place by security staff and leadership.
Response Technologies has a wide variety of tools that can help facilitate this notification in less than two seconds. Our line of wireless panic buttons can connect to an individual’s phone can alert authorities within seconds. This removes the need an unsafe 911 call in the middle of a tragedy and gives access to a person in the situation to send the alert.
The Gunshot Detection Sensor is another tool that can deployed to communicate a gunshot without human intervention. With this gunshot detection technology, a gunshot is detected immediately. The sensor transmits a communication to law enforcement in two seconds or less as well as sends the communication to others in the situation.
We always underscore. On top of the right technology, organizations of all sizes, and core areas of business need to have the appropriate training and resources in place, so that if disaster strikes, we can tell the good guys, we can tell your employees, faculty, visitors, and staff – can enact the plan put in place to keep them safe.
